What is a Ghost Note?

A sound or musical note that is not played by any one instrument but is heard nonetheless. A conglomeration of multiple notes that create a new note. That is the ghost part. No one actually plays the note, it just occurs. The acoustics of a room, a certain combination of notes, etc. ...these are the things that create the ghost (note).
